Heading structure checker: see the H1-H6 outline of any page

Enter a page URL and the tool prints its heading outline from H1 to H6 and flags the usual problems: no H1 or more than one, levels that skip (H2 straight to H4), empty headings, repeated headings and headings that read like paragraphs. Each problem comes with the fix.

Frequently asked questions

Can a page have more than one H1?

HTML allows it. One H1 that names the page's topic is the clearest structure for readers, screen readers and parsers, so the checker flags more than one as a warning, not an error.

Why do skipped heading levels matter?

Screen-reader users navigate by heading level and a jump from H2 to H4 reads as a missing section. Nested levels also make the outline easier for any parser to split into sections.

Do headings affect rankings?

Headings help people and parsers understand the page structure. This tool does not claim a ranking effect.

What is an empty heading?

A heading tag with no text, often left behind by a template or used for spacing. Screen readers announce it as an empty heading.

Why does the tool show fewer headings than I see in the browser?

It reads the HTML the server sends. Headings that a script adds after the page loads are not in it.
