Frequently asked questions

Does this replace Google's Rich Results Test?

No. It reports syntax problems and missing properties from the HTML your server returns. Only Google's tools tell you whether a page is eligible for a specific rich result.

Should I add review or rating markup to pass?

No. Review and rating markup must describe real reviews that visitors can see on the page. The checker never asks for ratings; if it finds them it only notes that they have to be real.

Will FAQPage markup give me FAQ rich results?

Per Google's documentation, FAQ rich results are shown only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. The markup can still describe visible questions and answers to machines.

Why does it say no JSON-LD when my page has schema?

The tool reads the HTML the server sends. If a script adds the markup after the page loads, it is not in that HTML.

Where should JSON-LD go?

A <script type="application/ld+json"> element in the <head> or body. Google reads either.
